Key Concepts (Module 4: Assessments with AI)
In Module 4, I am still learning to use artificial intelligence more effectively to get more appropriate results. I continue to make more structured prompts to obtain exact academic and daily information. I understand my prompts should be nicely structured to make polite requests to an AI to minimize the margin of error. Besides, Module 4 provides a better idea of summative and formative assessment to organize my activities during a lesson plan, and additional AI tools to enhance my classes.
Given this, it is equally essential to continue answering the following questions by Module 4:
- What were the most important concepts you learned during this module?
I learned the difference between formative and summative assessments, which is crucial for planning as a new teacher. Both types of assessments require different evaluations and feedback. I also discovered how to structure my prompts effectively using AI tools to ensure reliable results.
Further, I explored new assessment tools such as Quizalize, Quizizz, and QuestionWell to create an engaging classroom environment that supports effective learning.
Module 4 was significant because I learned how to use AI to create rubrics or checklists using platforms like Brisk, Magic School, or ChatGPT. I also realized the abundance of feedback types, with the evaluation type determining the feedback style. I understood personalized feedback requires a well-crafted prompt.
- How did these concepts challenge your previous understanding of English language teaching?
The concepts mentioned earlier have changed my perspective because there are significant differences between summative and formative assessments. I comprehend that formative assessment involves receiving constant feedback throughout the evaluation process while summative assessments are conducted at the end of a unit or semester. As a future teacher, this has been challenging because it provides a general understanding of how and when to offer different types of feedback to students.
Besides, I find artificial intelligence fascinating because it offers a vast world of learning opportunities. Future teachers like me can learn new concepts or adapt different AI tools to make classes more engaging. Throughout the specialization course, I recognize that the concepts of teamwork, design thinking, and planning with AI have been my constant support in generating high-quality documents and resources. It is worth mentioning that the potential of artificial intelligence in the educational world is incredible.
- How do you plan to apply these concepts in your future learning?
In my future learning, I plan to apply these concepts by integrating formative and summative assessments more effectively into my teaching practices. I understand the differences between these assessments and how they could help me to provide timely and meaningful feedback to my students, guiding their learning process throughout the course and not just at the end because I want to adapt some teaching strategies based on their needs and progress.
Correspondingly, I intend to continue exploring and utilizing AI tools to enhance my lessons and classroom activities. I can create more engaging and interactive learning experiences. The knowledge I've gained about AI will help me design better prompts and use AI-generated rubrics and checklists to streamline my work while maintaining high-quality educational resources.
Finally, I'll apply the teamwork, design thinking, and AI planning skills I've developed to collaborate with colleagues to innovate my classroom. These concepts will help me stay organized, creative, and responsive to the evolving educational landscape, ensuring that I can provide the best possible learning environment for my furute students.
