In Module 2, I have learned to use artificial intelligence more effectively to reach more suitable results and improve my searches for both academic and daily information. I have also learned that my prompts should be nicely structured to make polite requests to an AI to minimize the margin of error. Besides, Module 2 provides a comprehensive basis for learning about AI in ELT, AI for productive and receptive language skills, and various AI tools for creating bots as learning assistants.
Given this, it is equally essential to continue answering the following questions by Module 2:
Given this, it is equally essential to continue answering the following questions by Module 2:
- What were the most important concepts you learned in this module?
Module 2 guided me to two groundbreaking concepts: "The Use of AI in Education" and "AI in English Language Teaching." These concepts highlight how artificial intelligence could be employed responsibly and ethically, and become a powerful tool for students and teachers. I firmly believe that AI can revolutionize learning by providing a vast collection of resources, including online educational games, and platform recommendations for creating captivating teaching materials such as presentations, comics, songs, videos, worksheets, and interactive quizzes. Moreover, I discovered that AI can generate authentic materials using various apps. For instance, I learned how to create precise presentations using Gamma. I even learned how to generate AI-powered songs using Suno and how to create talking photos using ChatterPix.
The two concepts are closely interlaced as AI rapidly advances, offering innovative approaches for teachers to enrich their English language teaching methods more efficiently and creatively.
Another crucial concept I grasped in Module 2 was the development of receptive and productive skills to acquire learning materials in the classroom. In receptive skills, where information is primarily received, I explored apps like Read Theory, Reading Coach, and Read Along AI. For productive skills, where language production is emphasized, I experimented with excellent apps such as Elsa Speak, TalkPal, and Chat GPT, which generate language suitable for English language instruction.
- How did these concepts challenge your previous understanding of English language teaching?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) never stops to amaze me as I am constantly learning something new. Module 2 has shown me that the educational landscape is becoming less boring and monotonous. Instead, the concepts of "creative teaching" are taking over, especially in English language teaching, where classes are anything but typical.
Module 2 has changed my viewpoint as I have been introduced to more AI-powered teaching resources that can help me design great lesson materials only in seconds. On the other hand, AI-powered apps have helped me greatly reduce the time it takes to plan my presentations and improve the quality of their design and content. I am astonished at how AI can provide such great resources like creative games, strategies, educational courses, certifications, etc. so that everyone can manage technology in a healthy and balanced way.
Artificial intelligence has changed my teaching strategies as I can now create and adapt a chatbot as a learning assistant that can help my future students clarify doubts or provide well-structured information about the subject I teach. English language teaching in the classroom is surpassing itself.
To be honest, I hadn't realized the impact of change that English teachers have been experiencing since moving away from conventional methods of using only paper, whiteboards, pencils, and books to more personalized and faster classes like video quizzes, online presentations, creative online games, and even learning to mold activities for hybrid modality. I love the expansion of artificial intelligence in the great world of teaching, especially in the English language.
- How do you plan to apply these concepts in your future teaching?
I plan to use the ideas I have learned to improve my English teaching style. As a novice teacher, I can innovate the types of materials I use to make my lessons more ingenious and understandable for my future students.
On the other hand, I plan to continue using different artificial intelligence ethically and responsibly to produce a comfortable atmosphere where I can find optimal and accurate resources to improve not only my teaching level but also my learning level so that students reflect the learning that is optimal and appropriate to the educational content.
