Introduction (Module 4: Assessments with AI)
Hello dear readers, Welcome back! Let me share with you how engaging it has been to analyze a bit of the world of Artificial Intelligence applied in Education. This area is exceptionally vast and brimming with opportunities, and my teachers, classmates, and I have had the joy of studying gradually. The journey hasn’t been easy, as I’ve faced numerous challenges and surprises as a student to complete my expectations and curiosity about the evolution of technology.
Modulo 4 has been very emotional since it is the last stage of the specialization course. I learned how to manage different AI tools to apply in the formative or summative assessment. Certainly, my learning path will continue because technology never ends!
Please, feel free to read and express your opinion about module 4: "Assessment with AI"
In Module 4, I can say that the fascinating world of assessments is enhanced by artificial intelligence (AI). The integration of AI in education is revolutionizing the student's approach to learning and evaluation, offering innovative solutions that provide diverse student needs. One of the root principles of AI in education is to provide personalized learning experiences.
Besides, the AI can adapt academic content and assessments based on individual student performance, making learning more effective and engaging. So, the main objectives of AI in education include improving student outcomes, enhancing teacher productivity, and making learning more accessible.
When it comes to assessments; I consider that AI plays a crucial role in both formative and summative evaluation strategies because formative assessments are continuous and provide constant feedback that helps students and teachers identify areas for improvement throughout the learning process. In contrast, summative assessments evaluate student learning at the end of an instructional period, measuring how well students have met the established learning objectives. The key difference between them is the following; formative assessments guide learning while summative assessments estimate learning outcomes.
Several AI-powered tools are innovating the way assessments are conducted like Question Well, Quizalize, Kahoot, Quizizz, Twee, Blokket, Magic School, and even ChatGPT or Claude, which provide interactive and engaging ways to assess students. These tools not only make assessments more fun but also offer valuable data insights that help teachers or students adjust their instructional strategies.
Finally, the use of AI in generating personalized feedback is indispensable in today’s educational landscape because through detailed comments on student assignments or instant feedback during an AI-driven quiz, the ability to provide customized feedback ensures that each student receives the guidance they need to succeed.
In recap, the final module is essential for instructing new teachers about technological tools to assess students in their classes because the upgrade of AI has improved the learning experience and enables teachers to meet the diverse needs of their students. Module 4 demonstrates the potential of AI to transform education and prepare future instructors.
