Key Learnings (Module 4: Assessments with AI)
The knowledge I have gained from this module has been transformative, particularly in deepening my understanding of formative and summative assessments, like the potential of artificial intelligence in education. These insights will undoubtedly influence how I approach teaching, planning, and student engagement in the future.
Now, I want to express my opinion in the following questions:
- How will the knowledge gained from this module influence your teaching methods?
The knowledge I've acquired from this module will significantly shape my teaching methods by encouraging a more thoughtful and dynamic approach to assessment and feedback. I comprehend the distinct purposes of formative and summative assessments allow me to conduct my evaluations to meet my students' needs deeply. I plan to use formative assessments regularly to monitor student progress and provide continuous feedback, which will help me identify areas where students may struggle and adjust my teaching accordingly. The approach ensures that learning is a more personalized and supportive experience.
Moreover, my growing familiarity with AI tools will enable me to integrate technology into my lessons in ways that improve learning and engagement. By using AI to create customized rubrics, checklists, and prompts, I can save time on administrative tasks and focus more on interacting with my future students and refining my instructional methods. I can express that my teaching will be more efficient and adaptable to different learning styles and needs.
- Can you think of a specific lesson or activity where you could apply what you've learned?
I plan to apply what I've learned in a project-based learning (PBL) unit where students work in teams in entertaining activities according to the contents. Throughout the project, I will use AI-generated rubrics and checklists to implement formative assessments. These tools will guide students through the different stages of their work, helping them stay on track and understand the criteria for success. Also, I will provide constant feedback on each team's progress.
To evaluate the final product, I will use a summative assessment, considering the entire process and the student's ability to apply their knowledge and skills. I can use both types of assessments effectively, I aim to ensure that students not only understand the content but also develop critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. This approach will make the learning experience more meaningful and relevant, preparing students for future challenges.
